Some points about promoting your blog post immediately
All bloggers searching for new or normal ways to promote them blog posts ( not the whole blog ) but only the new posts they just write, if you one of them, check my next words.
1- use Yahoo Answers to answer the question related to your post and use the link in source field .
2- making you post have high quality and submit it to articles sites will make it featured.
3- Comment in blogs which have posts related to your post ( don’t spam it ) and comment only in the related niche ” commentluv plugin will be great “ .
4- Publish a feed ( use feedburner to count your readers ) also it help in collecting readers .
5- commenting to related posts will make the other bloggers in your niche link to your post .
6- Ping your post by Pingoat or similar service .
7- submit your post o Digg and similar service .
8- Use StumbleUpon and stumble your post there but don’t do it for all of your posts ( this will make your URL banned ) .
9- Be sure that your post added to your sitemap and submitted to Google .
10- Use Web 2.0 pages and insert your posts there ( e.g Squidoo ) .
11- twitter will be great if you collect more followers .

These are some really useful tips for blogger. My favorite tip there has to be twitter, im enjoying using twitter and connecting with other bloggers, webmasters, marketers, designers, programmers and many other people.
Just to add 3 more points:
1.Turn your post into a PDF and submit it to Scribd and Docstoc
2.You could also use forums to promote your post
3.Use blog carnivals
