These are the most common questions asked by the newbies about the computers and the operating systems like windows, Ubuntu, Linux and apple ” mac ” .
These days Linux users are in increasing day after day, so all of them want to know more about this things ” OS “. Microsoft software are not free, so they had this reason to convert to Linux and its brothers and sisters :p

In the past the computer users was in trouble, they were using DOS commands to do anything and the software were too bad ” during this period it was an invention, but now ?? “. Imagine that when you want to enter some folders you should write ” Dir” and ” CD ” these commands were great but the time my dear !
After that Microsoft released a software called Window operating system !
this invention leads us to another tool we still using till now ” the mouse ” and the right click/left click instead of the commands such as Dir/ Is and CD. without the operating system we will back to this commands ” imagine the time and the boring work you will do. This software make it easy now to close, open use the computer and also converted the hard work using the computer to a fun thing we enjoy to do everyday.

Linux and its friends is an open source software or a program. You can add, edit and change anything ” but in some version there is a limit “. ie in windows you can’t develop it and people around the world break this rules and develop this soft. The Linux soft are flexible you will enjoy working with it and using it, plus it is more faster than windows and there is no virus because most virus designed for .exe, bmp, jpeg, dll, cab…etc files but for Linux ” Ubuntu” it don’t read this extensions !
There is much difference between these OS and Linux but this was the major difference between them.
Now softly and step by step we will know how to Install Ubuntu Linux with images and pictures.
First download the latest Ubuntu version from the official website here
this lesson is divided into 10 Steps .. every step has an image and comment to leads you to the right click.
Step 1 :
After downloading the CD ” I think it will be in .ISO extension ” so you will need to burn it using Nero or such software on a CD. Insert the CD inside the CD drive then the language interface will appear to you, select the English interface ” maybe you use Hindi if you want ” anyways use the language you would like to use.
Step 2 :
The main menu will appears to you, There will be 3 options:
try Ubuntu without installing
Install Ubuntu
Check disc for defects
Test memory
Boot from first hard drive
The first one you know if you use live cdz, means that you will try this version of ubuntu without installing it. Sure we will choose the second option.
Step 3 :
After choosing install ubuntu the system ” ubuntu will initialize and after the loading you will see the installation wizard.
Step 4 :
The default choice is English, just go forward and then It will check the minimum requirements for running ubuntu on your computer ( PC ) ” checking the hardware”. You will see the green marks if everything works fine and the parts of you PC ” computer” will work OK with Ubuntu. You can download the updates during the installing process ” if you already downloaded the latest version of Ubuntu, so no need to check this box. Click forward again after choosing the suitable features for you.
Step 5 :
In this step you will face 2 options you should choose one on them :
erase and use entire disk.
specify partitions manually ( advanced ).
you are free to choose one of them, then it will show the free space available for your PC.
You will need to create a new partition, so select The free space you have in HD ” hard disk drive ” and be sure that the partition type is primary. This drive should be from 70%-60% of the equal space you have ” or the space you want to use for the new system “. The location for the new partition is where do you want this space locate ” beginning or end “, use as should be ext3 journaling file system, here we change the usage of the partition from FAT 32 to EXT3 finally the mount point leave it as /. Check the photo below:
Now we will do the previews step but with a few changes:
The type of the new partition should be Logical.
Location for the new partition : beginning
The new partition size in megabytes around 300 MB
Use as : EXT3 journaling file system.
finally the mount point : /boot.

Again we will do the last steps but with another changes:
The type of the new partition should be Logical.

The new partition size in megabytes : this depends on you RAM for example if you have 512 MB RAM your swap size should be 1000 MB. If the RAM is 1000 MB then the swap area should be 2000 MB.
Use as : Swap area.
finally the mount point :will be disactive or leave it blank.

After creating the swap area you don’t need to create another partition to make your Linux UBUNTU get installed now we have :
Two partition with EXT3 extension and one partition as swap area.

If you saw the previews Image this means that everything is working fine ” you should smile “
step : 6
Click install now button and the next wizard will appear to you ” Where are you wizard ” select your location then click forward.
Step 7:
Select you keyboard layout as the next image show:
Step 8 :
You should know that while you doing this steps maybe some file were installing during this process. This step about your personal information such as ( your name, age, password,username ) then as usual ” forward “
you know that this Linux replaced the know word ” next” from windows to the word “forward” ?
Step 9 :
We are to finishing the installation after a few minutes .. you will see the files copied ” finished” and installed you will get a message telling you that everything done and the installation is completed now. So restart your computer and remove the CD from the CD device ” if you didn’t the system will restart and ask you to install ubuntu again !.
Step 10 :
The last step here is the interface look, i asked you to restart the computer and remove the CD. Then the new system will appear its interface with the screamable – visualbox or the login page ( asking you to enter the username and the password )
enter the user and the pass then enjoy the great interface of UBUNTU. I’m sure that you will like it .. and you will never back to mac or windows again
