How to Add an Additional Monitor to a Mac Mini

31 March 2009 2 Comments

how to add an additional monitor to mac apple A lot of people have been speculating that a Mac Mini will soon be released which natively supports adding an additional monitor. Actually, though, adding an additional monitor (or 2 or 3) to a Mac Mini isn’t really that tough.

Steps

  1. Get a USB to DVI adapter (don’t worry, most come bundled with a free VGA adapter in case your monitor doesn’t support DVI).
  2. Plug the adapter into your Mac Mini (any available USB port).
  3. Download the latest Mac drivers (note that Display Link chips, the brains behind all of these adapters, currently only support Leopard or Tiger).
  4. Follow the guided setup.
  5. Voila – enjoy your multi-monitor setup.

Tips ( warning )

  • Do not try this on any Mac OS earlier than 10.4.11.
