What is the difference between Linux and the other operating system ?

what does operating system mean ?

How to Install Ubuntu Linux and please I want the lesson supported by Pictures ” images “

These are the most common questions asked by the newbies about the computers and the operating systems like windows, Ubuntu, Linux and apple ” mac ” .

These days Linux users are in increasing day after day, so all of them want to know more about this things ” OS “. Microsoft software are not free, so they had this reason to convert to Linux and its brothers and sisters :p

what does operating system mean ?

In the past the computer users was in trouble, they were using DOS commands to do anything and the software were too bad ” during this period it was an invention, but now ?? “. Imagine that when you want to enter some folders you should write ” Dir” and ” CD ” these commands were great but the time my dear !

After that Microsoft released a software called Window operating system !

this invention leads us to another tool we still using till now ” the mouse ” and the right click/left click instead of the commands such as Dir/ Is and CD. without the operating system we will back to this commands ” imagine the time and the boring work you will do. This software make it easy now to close, open use the computer and also converted the hard work using the computer to a fun thing we enjoy to do everyday.

What is the difference between Linux and the other operating system ?

Linux and its friends is an open source software or a program. You can add, edit and change anything ” but in some version there is a limit “. ie in windows you can’t develop it and people around the world break this rules and develop this soft. The Linux soft are flexible you will enjoy working with it and using it, plus it is more faster than windows and there is no virus because most virus designed for .exe, bmp, jpeg, dll, cab…etc files but for Linux ” Ubuntu” it don’t read this extensions !

There is much difference between these OS and Linux but this was the major difference between them.

Now softly and step by step we will know how to Install Ubuntu Linux with images and pictures.

First download the latest Ubuntu version from the official website here

this lesson is divided into 10 Steps .. every step has an image and comment to leads you to the right click.

Step 1 :

After downloading the CD ” I think it will be in .ISO extension ” so you will need to burn it using Nero or such software on a CD. Insert the CD inside the CD drive then the language interface will appear to you, select the English interface ” maybe you use Hindi if you want ” anyways use the language you would like to use.

Step 2 :

Check disc for defects

Test memory

Boot from first hard drive

The first one you know if you use live cdz, means that you will try this version of ubuntu without installing it. Sure we will choose the second option.

Step 3 :

After choosing install ubuntu the system ” ubuntu will initialize and after the loading you will see the installation wizard.

Step 4 :

The default choice is English, just go forward and then It will check the minimum requirements for running ubuntu on your computer ( PC ) ” checking the hardware”. You will see the green marks if everything works fine and the parts of you PC ” computer” will work OK with Ubuntu. You can download the updates during the installing process ” if you already downloaded the latest version of Ubuntu, so no need to check this box. Click forward again after choosing the suitable features for you.

Step 5 :

In this step you will face 2 options you should choose one on them :

erase and use entire disk.

specify partitions manually ( advanced ).

you are free to choose one of them, then it will show the free space available for your PC.

You will need to create a new partition, so select The free space you have in HD ” hard disk drive ” and be sure that the partition type is primary. This drive should be from 70%-60% of the equal space you have ” or the space you want to use for the new system “. The location for the new partition is where do you want this space locate ” beginning or end “, use as should be ext3 journaling file system, here we change the usage of the partition from FAT 32 to EXT3 finally the mount point leave it as /. Check the photo below:

Now we will do the previews step but with a few changes:

The type of the new partition should be Logical.

Location for the new partition : beginning

The new partition size in megabytes around 300 MB

Use as : EXT3 journaling file system.

finally the mount point : /boot.

check the Image below :

Again we will do the last steps but with another changes:

The type of the new partition should be Logical.

Location for the new partition : beginning

The new partition size in megabytes : this depends on you RAM for example if you have 512 MB RAM your swap size should be 1000 MB. If the RAM is 1000 MB then the swap area should be 2000 MB.

Use as : Swap area.

finally the mount point :will be disactive or leave it blank.

check the Image below then click OK:

After creating the swap area you don’t need to create another partition to make your Linux UBUNTU get installed now we have :

Two partition with EXT3 extension and one partition as swap area.

This photo show this result:

If you saw the previews Image this means that everything is working fine ” you should smile “

step : 6

Click install now button and the next wizard will appear to you ” Where are you wizard ” select your location then click forward.

Step 7:

Select you keyboard layout as the next image show:

You should know that while you doing this steps maybe some file were installing during this process. This step about your personal information such as ( your name, age, password, username ) then as usual ” forward “

you know that this Linux replaced the know word ” next” from windows to the word “forward” ?

Step 9 :

We are to finishing the installation after a few minutes .. you will see the files copied ” finished” and installed you will get a message telling you that everything done and the installation is completed now. So restart your computer and remove the CD from the CD device ” if you didn’t the system will restart and ask you to install ubuntu again !.

Lithium-Ion or Li-Ion batteries have the longest life. They also happen to be the lightest in weight. The two pluses means there is minus attached, which is price. A li-ion battery will always be the most expensive type of battery available.

4. What’s the difference between the Stand-by time and Talk time?

Your phone is in standby mode when your phone is on but you aren’t talking. The power consumption is minimal and the phone can stay in this mode for a longer period of time. When you are using the phone you are using talk time. This consumes battery power at a much quicker rate. Your battery life will be somewhere between talk time and standby time

5. What is a roaming charge?

A roaming charge is when you make a call from outside of your calling area. Your calling area is defined by plan local, regional or national.

6. What are peak and off peak hours?

Peak hours are during the day when the cellular networks are very busy. These minutes are at premium and your plan will typically include the smallest amount of these. If you use more than your allotted peak minutes they will be billed at a much higher rate than off peak minutes. Off peak is the exact opposite of peak time. Each cellular provider has their own definition of off peak.

7. What are anytime minutes?

Anytime minutes are simply put minutes you can use anytime, peak or off peak. On most plans you will use anytime minutes first.

8. Do I pay for the call when someone calls me?

Usually yes. You are billed for the airtime when you receive a call. However some service providers are offering unlimited in network calls.

9. Should I buy a cell phone or look for a free cellular phone?

Free phones generally speaking don’t have the latest features, they are anywhere from 6 to 12 months behind. Also, free cell phones generally come with longer contracts. But, it is still possible to get a great deal on a free cell phone.

10. What to do if you want to upgrade/downgrade or cancel your service plan?

You can usually upgrade to higher plan without any cost. Some may force you to extend your contract for 1 to 2 years from that point. Downgrading your plan is often times not an option and when it is there is usually a penalty or fine.

Looking to buy a new computer?

Overwhelmed by all of the options available to you?

Stressed by the high cost of computers today?

For most people, buying a new computer does not have to be as stressful as buying a new car. Nor does it have to be as expensive. If you’re like most people, and you have a limited budget for buying a computer, then you need to try to get as much computer for your money as possible.

Here are 3 simple ways anyone can save money when buying a new computer:

1) Shop around for best deal.

Sounds pretty obvious. But many people don’t realize they don’t need the fastest, most expensive computer with the most “extras”. In fact, if you are already using an older computer, even the least expensive new computer will be a big upgrade. If you don’t know a lot about computers, you can learn a lot by shopping around. Ask lots of questions, compare prices, compare features, then find the best price. Shop at your local electronics store, and look for the best deals online. You’ll be surprised at how much money you can save by shopping around!

2) Install your own “extras”

Many computers you will find in a store have a lot of extra software already installed. While this is convenient, it is not always the best way for you to save money. Also, while many of these extras sound good, you don’t always need them. You can often find better deals by shopping around separately for your own software extras (such as a word processor, anti-virus, popup blocker, spyware removal, games, etc). And some of these you can get for free. So before you buy the “fully loaded” computer, ask yourself if you really need all the extras, then shop around to see if you can buy a scaled down computer – and get the extras yourself for much less!

3) Don’t buy extended warranty

If you are not a computer “techie”, the extended warranties offered by the computer retailers often sound like a good idea. After all, who wants to be bothered paying for service on a computer after you buy it. But keep in mind that most computers come with a warranty, and most computer problems will either happen at the beginning (when you still have the warranty in effect) or much later (when it might be cheaper to buy a new computer). Technology changes very quickly these days. So consider whether or not it’s worth the inflated price of the extended warranty. And, if you really feel you need the extended warranty, then ask to purchase it at a lower price. Not all retailers will negotiate on the warranty, but some will. And whether you buy the extended warranty or not, make sure you back up all your files periodically, just in case!

If you have an unlimited budget, consider yourself lucky. And if you do business on the computer, make sure you get what you need, while trying to keep the price down. At any price, buying something that does not fit your needs is not a good deal.

Hope you find these tips helpful, and happy computer shopping!

if you don’t know what is bar code, please complete reading next words to know what is bar code ( maybe you search for your country bar code after that ) let’s start. Barcodes is a represented data looks like lines spaced by another lines ( look at the pic and you will understand what is this lines ). from the photo here you will see the dark ” black” and white lines , I’m sure that you saw it much but maybe you don’t know the real name of this lines.

Who invented the barcode or bar code ?

i will tell you the full story of bar code and you decide who discovered this barcode. The first person which think about Bar Code called Max Badk ( Badc )in 1880 but he was not rich enough to complete this project so it become a dead idea for ( him ) but in 1932 Wallace Flint ( a man was finishing his postgraduate ) wrote a research about system for retail store ( automatic system ) in College of Business Administration , Harvard university. he explained how this system work and how to use it to manage the inventory and make the checkout process is too simple and easy. Also this system designed to control the move of the products ( in-out ) Shelf. but in this period USA was have much economic troubles ( not as 2008 economic troubles ) which affect on this new system so it failed for the second time. But in 1948 the idea become alive again by Bernard Silver ( he was graduated student from Drexel Institute of Technology ) , Joseph Woodland and Norman Johansen . they developed the idea and designed a system working by UV ink, and this system used by some store Chain in Philadelphia (is the largest city in Pennsylvania ). but the idea failed again because it cost much at this period .

you forget this name ” Joseph Woodland ” i referred to him in my last words, anyway this man work alone in developing this system till he made a Patent in 7 of October 1952 . i know it is long intro and you just want to know how barcode working OK let me tell you how.

to read bar code you should have something called scanner or barcode reader which send Laser beam on the bar code then this beam return again ( just white lines in barcode which reflect laser beam because black lines absorb it ) and this scanner ( barcode reader ) analyze this beams and convert the results into information . this informations send automatically into a PC ( computer ) which connected with this reader. this computer make identical operation with others codes which stored inside it. then this computer recognize the code then it store the new information like price, amount , product info in inventory ..etc.

where barcode or bar code scanner ( reader ) can be used ?

It used in tickets ( matches tickets, cinema, theater .. etc )

In booking offices like post office, flight tickets, train tickets or car rental

In Grocery stores and shops so we classified the products and inventory so it become ready for selling and pricing in easy way.

this is small information about bar code and what is barcode and how it work, i hope this post help my readers which don’t know what is barcode and how it invented . maybe next post will be about the new logo from Google. they installed barcode picture as logo so i decide to post this post then i wait the next logo ( if i found it is useful subject i will start a new post about it .) want to join my world, OK join my readers or subscribe by email ( you can subscribe by adding your email on the right top square and then press subscribe ) have a happy day .

some web sites work fine in Firefox web browser but not looks that good in IE so it is important to check the themes and designs in most browsers before establish the new work to avoid errors after released the work .

so i give you the tool ( add-on ) which allow you to use Internet explorer a tab in Firefox while Firefox is running . this will give you all the features of IE inside Firefox.if we found a tool which Embedding Internet Explorer in tabs of Mozilla/Firefox, we will found the same with other browsers so don’t wonder that someday firebox can used as IE, Opera or chrome !

for me i use it because i use only Firefox and don’t like to use IE and some forums required IE to post a new reply so i found it hard to open both of them so i save the time and memory usage and use IE-TAB plugin .

i test it in Microsoft windows XP and working fine ” I’m sure for Microsoft OS ” but in Linux Ubuntu it not working and i think that IE Tab is not available for Linux.

you can get it here and see how it work ” images “

There is no doubt that operating system today have gold age , i don’t talk about one of operating systems but i talk about this niche ( Linux operating system, windows operating system, Mac OSX Leopard operating system..etc ) if we have a fast look at this operating systems software	we can discover how much this software changed and become more than one .

when windows 95, windows xp or Mac OSX Leopard released developers think that it is great moments and this is big step in operating systems production but i don’t think that this moment we live now can compared with that time .

let’s go deeply to check ( research ) operating system market this days to know where this market reached and will reach in the future , from the first look you can see that we have more than 3 operating systems work good and make a perfect job first of this systems is Microsoft operating systems ( windows 7 ) second is Mac operating systems ( Mac OSX Leopard ) the third one is Linux ( Ubuntu 9.04 ) .

you noticed that i choose one of the operating systems of every main company to be a live example about this company products . actually i didn’t try mac operating systems so most of my experience about this mac comes from internet and friends try with it , but i use and still using Linux ubuntu and sure products from Microsoft operating systems . this 3 systems developed and everyday they improved and offer new featured so they try to attract new users and supporters , we was not see this competition before but now we see that all of them do its best to get a new user , if you check Microsoft window in the past you will discover that they was not interested in graphics and the small details that users like but now they added all this features after ubuntu and other operating systems uses this emotions to attract them users .

the competition is the secret of this big change because more competition mean more support from the service provider and more interest from the company to be the best . this if we talked about desktop computers ( PC ) but we can have a look at other things like iphone, mobile or small notebooks which found big competition also in operating systems so we can see the amount of competitors like ( Android which is open source, Windows Mobile which have big base of supporters and users, iPhone, Blackberry OS or the coming operating system ( OS ) from Palm which called web operating system WebOS ) .

all of this versions and this software products from operating systems and you don’t think that this is the gold age of OS ? I’m sure it is , next days and months we will see new gold or diamond age from real time operating systems but first we must Leave room for the competition and help the new competitors . we should support the high quality products not only the famous products .

this days we see that the latest operating system help us but this not mean that it is the best one for example Microsoft have now vista and windows xp but for me i like windows xp more than vista ( maybe you agree or disagree with me ) even if vista is the newer than xp versions .

do you think Microsoft have troubles ? i ask this question because i heard that Microsoft will make big layoffs action is it become trademark from Microsoft ( Microsoft layoffs or Microsoft job cuts ) and we are in 2009 ?

much Microsoft layoff will cause non trust in the future in this big company , so it will turn into mini Microsoft , and it must solve the problems if they don’t like to mixed with another company .

A lot of people have been speculating that a Mac Mini will soon be released which natively supports adding an additional monitor. Actually, though, adding an additional monitor (or 2 or 3) to a Mac Mini isn’t really that tough.

Steps

Get a USB to DVI adapter (don’t worry, most come bundled with a free VGA adapter in case your monitor doesn’t support DVI).
Plug the adapter into your Mac Mini (any available USB port).
Download the latest Mac drivers (note that Display Link chips, the brains behind all of these adapters, ...

Download the latest Mac drivers (note that Display Link chips, the brains behind all of these adapters, currently only support Leopard or Tiger).

Follow the guided setup.

Voila – enjoy your multi-monitor setup.

Tips ( warning )

Do not try this on any Mac OS earlier than 10.4.11.
